My Home Birth Story by Christina Peacock

My Home Birth Story by Christina Peacock

December 01, 2011

When I discovered I was pregnant with my second baby, I decided I was going to try and have a home birth. This decision came to me easily, firstly because I had my two year old daughter Roxana to think of and wanted to be at home so that she would not have to go anywhere overnight or for a long period of time during the day. Secondly, I had a really bad experience in my first pregnancy. I have many friends that have had home births. Therefore I have had several discussions with them about their experiences before and during my second pregnancy.... Read full article

Cornwall Series - Funky Monkey Pants

Real Nappy Heaven We moved to Cornwall in October 2007, and have settled in the town of Helston, home of the Furry Dance. This is a dance which takes place on Flora Day - an annual event in May to celebrate the onset of spring. We enjoy lots of family days out to the many lovely beaches in this area, especially Kynance and Poldhu Cove. We also like to visit National Trust properties, our favourites being Lanhydrock and Trelissick gardens. In September 2008 our daughter Elowen (a Cornish name for elm tree) was born and we decided to use cloth... Read full article

First Days at School

First Days at School

October 10, 2011

Already used to being dropped off at nursery or pre school and rarely showing signs of even noticing me leaving. That was what I had come to expect of my tot from around 2 years of age. Of course there were rare occasions when doleful moist eyes threatening to overflow watched me through a window and haunted me for the entire day. Working our merry way through the minefield of paperwork in registering and... Read full article

Jo, Jon & Baby Frankie

Jo, Jon & Baby Frankie

September 26, 2011

I was 10 days overdue and really starting to get stressed that my baby would never arrive.  I’d had so many phone calls from friends and family asking how I was doing, and although I can look back now and see how lovely those phone calls were, at the time they were just reminders that I hadn’t had my baby yet and still was waddling around waiting for something to happen! I couldn’t complain too much,... Read full article
