Mother and daughter team, Allison and Hannah, realised there was a gap in the market for quality maternity clothing at reasonable prices. They travelled across the country and to Ireland to source the right wholesalers before deciding that St Austell was the right venue for their business.
Among the labels available are Mama-licious, a Danish company who design and make beautifully styled and comfortable clothing, including jeans that look and feel incredible. Fun Mum, a Scottish company who, as their name suggests have young, fun fashions and also many sizes to an XXL. And Melba, by a young London designer, offering a range of wrap style dresses and tops as well as a fantastic maxi dress.
Now three and a half years on Allison and Hannah are constantly looking for ways to improve their business and expand. The shop now has a range of gift ideas and accessories, such as sun parasols and knitted soft toys. After many requests from regular customers whose toddlers were becoming too big for the baby range they have also started stocking fashions for older children up to seven years.
Bump to Baby’s latest venture is about to launch a ‘Something Special’ range: special occasion, christening, bridesmaids and pageboys outfits. Customers can buy that special outfit from the display or order specific requirements.
The highlight of the year is a visit to the Royal Cornwall Show where Bump to Baby have a stand in the popular Family Marquee. This is an occasion for the whole family to help with stand design and building and meeting the visitors.
