We moved to Cornwall in October 2007, and have settled in the town of Helston, home of the Furry Dance. This is a dance which takes place on Flora Day - an annual event in May to celebrate the onset of spring.
We enjoy lots of family days out to the many lovely beaches in this area, especially Kynance and Poldhu Cove. We also like to visit National Trust properties, our favourites being Lanhydrock and Trelissick gardens.
In September 2008 our daughter Elowen (a Cornish name for elm tree) was born and we decided to use cloth nappies because of environmental and financial issues. When I searched the Internet for cloth nappies I was amazed at how things have changed in the twelve years since using terry squares with nappy pins for my eldest daughter. There were many different types including Bamboo, Hemp, Pocket Nappies, All-in-Ones, etc. There was so much choice that I found it hard to decide which ones to buy at first.
When we started going to mother-and-baby groups several other mums would talk to me about cloth nappies and ask for my advice. I really enjoyed passing on the advice and encouraging mums to use cloth nappies. As a result of this in April 2009 I set up funkymonkeypants.com selling cloth nappies, natural products and offering impartial advice. I now sell worldwide and also do demos and lend out trial kits to local parents so that they can try out various nappies on their babies.
Funkymonkeypants.com is a real family business which I run from home. Kayleigh (my eldest daughter) designed the website banner, my partner John is my bookkeeper, my father maintains the website and Elowen was my official nappy tester until potty training.
